The Story

Victoria, British Columbia – Canada. The last stop of the week before waking up to the Seattle skyline where the adventure started. We only had a few hours to spend here before we were required to get back on the ship so I decided to do a city bus tour that would drive me around so I could see the city highlights, learn a little history, and then a stop at the 125 year old Craigdarroch Castle.

The castle is closed to the public in the evenings, however, our tour group had special access to get in. This renovated castle has been used for many different purposes. Originally it was built to be called, “Home,Sweet,Home” but the owner died before it was complete and left it to his wife to live in for 18 years. When she passed on, it was transformed into a hospital and then eventually a boys college. Sadly, the property taxes were staggering ($100,000/year) – leaving any potential owner at a loss.

There is so much to see in this little town that we barely had enough time for the bus tour to finish before being taken back to the ship. But, this little town is so close to Seattle that many people ferry up for a day trip – which might be something I do if I ever I find myself in the area again for a few days.

London – England

The best photo op was at sunset when we were between Big Ben and the London Eye. I wished I could have taken more pictures before color in the sky was gone.
