The Black GLI

My roommate, and awesome friend, Zach Cooper, just bought a brand new car!! But not just any car… it is the new 2012 Volkswagen Jetta GLI. In other words – its the same car that I have, but in black! It’s pretty hot, if you ask me! But here is the thing – it was never intended that Zach was going to buy the same car as me. As a matter of fact, last weekend when he stayed up late looking at cars, he was looking at a VW Passat SE. I wake up and he changed his mind, wanted this GLI, and told me that I had to call the dealer and see if there was something to be worked out....

2012 Volkswagon Jetta GLI

Here’s to my first post of my new car! The new 2012 VW Jetta GLI is one of the hottest cars I have had! I’m a car fanatic and taking pictures of this new car has been a blast!! There will be more pictures to come but these were taken with my boss, Jim Harmer, over President’s weekend in Boise, Idaho. We had a lot of fun working with the lighting on the car and getting some professional shots that look magazine ready! I hope you can enjoy these photos as much as I have! Since turning 16 years old, I have had: 1. 1972 Chevy Nova (Restored) 2. 1994 Oldsmobile Cutless 3. 1994...

More 2010 Corolla!

More 2010 Corolla!

Here are some more photos of my 2010 Corolla! If you have not caught on yet… I love cars and I love taking pictures of them. Apart from portrait photography, Automotive photography would be my next greatest passion! I wish I had a dealership of cars I could take out and photograph (and DRIVE of course) for fun! I did change the color of my car because the Charcoal Grey blended in with background too much and I wanted the car to stand out. The last two photos were inspired by the work of David Hockney and his interesting work of taking several photos to make one. It can be time consuming...

2010 Toyota Corolla

What do you think? This was kind of fun to do. This my 2010 Toyota Corolla S. It’s normal color is Metallic Grey. However, After some playing around and going for more of an advertisement look, this is what came out. Actually, I wanted the car to be red… when I went to have it printed, the printed was calibrated correctly for that red and so the car came out orange. I was kind of surprised but I kind of liked it… so I changed it photoshop to reflect it.  Rexburg, Idaho. Edited by Dustin...

El Camino – Light Painting/Extreme Photoshop

Posted in Automotive, Light Painting | 0 comments

This is my last post before Photoshop World in Las Vegas!! This is an El Camino I found on the side of the highway near St. Anthony, ID. I really wanted to do some light painting of an old car (probably because I am a car guy) and this was about the only one I found that I could get to. As you’ll be able to tell from the original scene, I had to add a lot of photoshop skills to it. Being right next to the highway, I had a hard time trying to light up everything I needed for the scene, so much of the background areas I didn’t get as well as I would have liked or needed. So, I...

Light Painting – Eric Curry Style 3 of 3

Posted in Automotive, Light Painting | 0 comments

This is my 3rd attempt at doing some Eric Curry light painting. This was by far the biggest scene I’ve done and I think it turned out. I think it looks cool, but not exactly my favorite out of the 3. I was out at my friend, Hilary Hansen’s, place to take some pictures. It was already late enough that she was all game to learn how to do some light painting! She claims she had a lot of fun doing it and I hope so because we were out there for a while trying to get everything all light painted. I think the Hansen’s were all surprised that their farm could look that...

Light Painting – Eric Curry Style 2 of 3

Okay. So this is my second time I’ve gone out and did the Eric Curry style of photography! The last time turned out so well that it really got me excited to go out and do it again. So, in the middle of Nowhere, Idaho my friend Jessica and I found this tractor that had the best backdrop ever. The Tetons.  I did the same thing I did with the pickup truck on this scene, but I decided not to have people in it. I was going to but as I started I just wasn’t feeling it. I didn’t think it was gonna work out very well. So… there’s no people in it.  Something about...

Light Painting – Eric Curry Style 1 of 3

Eric Curry is an amazing night photographer! His style of capturing photographs in the dark inspired me to go out and do one of my own. This truck was found on some farm land here in Rexburg, Idaho that we had permission to photograph. What an awesome experience to get out there and do this. Post production of this truck has taken about 6.5 hours. The photographing alone took close to 2.5 hours. This is no easy task, but the final product was well worth it I think.  Final Product Original Scene At this point, I should probably tell you that the Sunset you’re seeing...

Light Painted Truck

Just about anyone can take a photo during the day. What about at night? There is a style of photography called Light Painting where you set a slow shutter speed and light up your subject with flash lights and flood lights. With this concept, I pulled together 9 shots and layered them together to get the final shot. Final product. I layered 9 images and blended them to get this. Original. This is a good shot, but it’s the one I started with. Let me know what you think!...
