Andrew Olsen
Andrew was such a great assistant when he came with me to take some of Brandon’s Senior portraits. But, I also couldn’t pass up that opportunity to get some photos of Andrew too! Even though there are some who say he never smiles – he is very photogenic and I think we were able to get some great shots of Andrew while we were in Bisbee, AZ. ...

This is my brother, Brandon. One of the greatest kids that I know and it is so hard to believe that he is a senior in high school! When he was out for my college graduation, we took some quick photos for his senior year and these are the best of the best! Even though he is still working on his senior year – I just want to congratulate him for his renewed determination and outlook on life. Here’s to my brother,...

My roommate, and awesome friend, Zach Cooper, just bought a brand new car!! But not just any car… it is the new 2012 Volkswagen Jetta GLI. In other words – its the same car that I have, but in black! It’s pretty hot, if you ask me! But here is the thing – it was never intended that Zach was going to buy the same car as me. As a matter of fact, last weekend when he stayed up late looking at cars, he was looking at a VW Passat SE. I wake up and he changed his mind, wanted this GLI, and told me that I had to call the dealer and see if there was something to be worked out....

Okay. So lately I have been going through some old photos I have on my computer. Let me just say. Yikes! It makes me wonder why I thought that was so good at the time or why the edits I applied were even skillful. However, I must say this… if it weren’t for those photos, I would never know where I’ve been. It has actually been very exciting to see my growth and progression in the Photography and Design areas of my life. Two years ago I started taking classes in college to help me better understand the basics of all these creative subjects and I’ve come so far! I will...

This is my friend Hilary Hansen. She was such a good sport about getting dressed up and letting me take some shots of her! These photos turned out best in Black and White and I just love the result. Even though Hilary complained that she didn’t take good photos, she still was out there in front of the camera getting her smile on! Ready Hilary, 1. 2. 3....

This is the second photo I submitted to the Guru Contest. This is my great grandfather. The original of this portrait hangs on my grandmothers wall and many in her family want it. So, we decided to scan it in and restore it for others to print and hang on their walls. The same processes and techniques were used in this photo as was the previous restoration that I posted. I really liked how this one turned out. I have found that the hardest thing in photo restoration is lighting. If you are not careful, you could change the lighting dramatically and make it look unrealistic. Original...

Erica ArgüelloEditing: Erica is probably one of the most photogenic people I know! Just by looking, you’ll be able to tell that there was some decent amounts of Photoshop! Right away, I took out her camera strap and replaced it with either her hair or shirt. I airbrushed her faced and took care of the hard lighting on her cheek. I added more contrast and saturation to the colors to make them pop! I then did several facial enhancements such as whiter teeth, vibrant eyes, more lipstick and no more tired looking eyes.
